Christmas Eve..

It’s Christmas Eve, not a snowflake in sight and unseasonably warm.. It certainly does not feel like Christmas.. In any way..

Tomorrow is Christmas day, and like most days lately, I’ll spend it alone..

With nothing to do, and nowhere to go, I think I’ll pack up my fly-fishing gear, and head up to the Rogue River to fish a few of my favorite stretches.. I’ll be sure to fish under the bridges at Edgerton, the downstream bends behind the Scoutcamp, the deeper runs alongside Friske, and perhaps a few others.. Maybe I’ll even make it up to Jewel Bridge.

Just something about being in the river that relaxes me and, if even for a moment, helps me forget all that is going on in my life. Therapeutic in a way.. The Rogue River holds so many wonderful memories for me. Evenings with friends, stories about the fish that always seem to escape me, and memories of wonderful mayfly hatches that always get the trout to strike a dry fly.

I’ve never fly-fished on Christmas day before, and to tell you he truth, I’m looking quite forward to it.. With any luck, I’ll land a brown trout or two..

I certainly hope everyone reading this has a great Christmas.. I’ll be spending mine in the river.

Tight lines.

Stumble it!
