Just an Update..

Hey everyone. Just a brief update..

I’m now out of the hospital and am at home (actually staying with my parents for a few days so they can help me a little) and am slowly recovering. I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus…

I had my first of many appointments today, this one with one of the plastic surgeons who helped piece me back together. Evidently I’m a very fast healer. He removed most of the stitches from my face and in and around my eye. The stitches in and around my ear (about 75 stitches or so), and the staples in the back of my head need to be left in until next week. The swelling has begun to come down a bit, and the bruising is now setting in. Looks like I went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson - ear damage and all!!

My left side, where I broke a rib and bruised several others, is extremely sore, and no matter how I sit I’m in constant discomfort.

With all that said, I feel like the luckiest guy in the world. Perhaps blessed would be a better word. A fraction of an inch up, down or sideways, and I would have lost an eye. Had I not been wearing a seatbelt (something I admittedly fail to do quite often), and i certainly wouldn’t be here writing this right now. I honestly had no business walking away from an accident that violent, and it really is amazing I not only didn’t die, but that my injuries are as minor as what they are…

There are so many other variables that leave no doubt in my mind that someone was without a doubt watching over me and protecting me.

Thank you all so very much for all the thoughts, prayers and well-wishes via emails, messages here, and phone calls. It means so incredibly much to me.

I’ll continue to keep you all updated as I continue to heal.

Well, we all love you Ryan. I’ll bet that you wear your seatbelt from now on and will insist that anyone near and dear to you do the same. I’m so glad that you are on the mend, but I’m most grateful that you realize the importance of this accident. Yes, someone was watching over you. Air hug honey. :)

I am glad that you are healing so quickly, and that you still have such a sense of humor! You cracked me up with your mike tyson comment! But you truely are blessed. I can’t stop thinking of your gorgeous girls and how unfortunate it would’ve been if they’d lost their incredible dad. I know you’ve thought the same, and that’s why you know your so blessed. Just wanted to share in the gratitude!

Someone was indeed watching over you - you are so very lucky :-)

Take care - we are all here for you!
