Tonight, I feel overwhelmed, and I really don’t know what else to write, but “thank you”.
So many people over the last week, even some of which I hadn’t even known before this week, have told me they’ve been praying for me, and for my recovery from the accident. I cannot begin to tell you what it means to me, and how I have actually felt your thoughts and prayers. Keep reading →

Hey everyone. Just a brief update..
I’m now out of the hospital and am at home (actually staying with my parents for a few days so they can help me a little) and am slowly recovering. I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus…
I had my first of many appointments today, this one with one of the plastic surgeons who helped piece me back together. Evidently I’m a very fast healer. He removed most of the stitches from my face and in and around my eye. The stitches in and around my ear (about 75 stitches or so), and the staples in the back of my head need to be left in until next week. The swelling has begun to come down a bit, and the bruising is now setting in. Looks like I went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson - ear damage and all!!

This weekend I was involved in a terrible automobile accident. An accident that I had absolutely no business walking away from alive. The highway was horrible with ice, I lost control of my truck, flew off the side of the highway at over 60 mph, and rolled 4-5 times down a steep embankment before coming to a stop upside down. I was rushed to the hospital and was operated on throughout the night by a team of surgeons in the trauma center. They worked hard to get my temperature back up, as I had lost a significant amount of blood.
A team of very skilled plastic surgeons spent hours reconstructing the left side of my face, reattaching a mostly severed ear, and numerous deep facial lacerations. I also have a broken rib, partially collapsed lung, severe ligament damage to the neck, and multiple other minor injuries. Even some staples in my head.
Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers, and for all those who have stopped up to the hospital to see me. I firmly believe I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the grace of God. I appreciate your continued prayers.
Also, to all the great nurses and doctors at Spectrum downtown - thank you.. You all have been wonderful.

Brought the girls to the ballet tonight. This was their first experience at the ballet, and they absolutely loved it. We saw the Nutcracker at the Devos Hall, and the Grand Rapids Symphony was phenomenal. We even had a chance to meet with the cast backstage after the performance. It was a good night…

Ok, so I said I’d be updating more often, but life is crazy busy right now, and shows no sign of slowing down.. Quite exhausting..
Wednesdays have now become Gun Club days where I shoot skeet with a couple friends (photos coming soon). Its a good time and a great way to break up the week by taking out some aggression by shooting clay pigeons for a few hours.
Mondays and Thursdays I’m volunteering at Mel Trotter Ministries. I feel very fortunate to be able to help feed dinner, and offer help to the many homeless and disadvantaged here in Grand Rapids.
Between working as much as I have been, and everything else, I barely have time to sleep, let alone post anything worth reading, so for the many of you that still visit every day, I appreciate it. You know how much it means to me.. and I do promise to post a little more often.. again…

For as long as I can remember, Thanksgiving morning means rabbit hunting with the Visser family. Every bit as much as turkey and stuffing, it’s become an important tradition, and something I look forward to every year. Although I’m told if prepared correctly it can taste fairly good, I do not eat rabbit, so every year we give the meat away to a family that very much appreciates the food..
This year we ended up with only 8 rabbits ( I shot 2 of the 8 ), and Jason bagged a deer. As always it was a great time.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!!
