Saturday Photo Hunt.. Antique.

While it may not be perfect for the “Antique” theme of this weeks photo hunt, its the first thing that I thought of, so I’ll just go ahead and stick with it.

I have no idea how long these barns have been standing, but last winter the smaller of the two (the one with the greenish roof) collapsed under heavy snow. Its a beautiful old barn tht I will miss seeing when I drive past.

Stumble it!

I think that’s a great picture for the theme. It’s sad that the one building is gone. Love the hazy effects of the photo.

That is a beautiful image, I find barns always evoke something bordering on the magical. Your shot brings to mind two very different memories, the first being of an old hay barn in the village in Sweden where I grew up. We used to play in that barn, leaping from the beams into the huge piles of hay. The barn is of course long gone, but I still look for it whenever I drive past, hoping to see it…

The other is of an autumn drive in northern Ontario, me with my first REAL camera handy, I must have photographed 25 barns in one single weekend. None came out like yours of course, but I believe I was aiming for something of the magic you have so skilfully managed to convey.

Cool picture Ryan. That looks like a barn we parked by last year when I was in Ohio.

I don’t know if that is fog or haze but the effect is amazing. Great picture. My grandfather’s old barn finally had to be torn down. A first cousin has the farmstead now and he also does fabulous woodworking. He took the planks from the old barn and fashioned them into furniture and such. He made my dad a keyholder for the wall from one plank. Dad treasures this small piece of his childhood.

It’s a pity these old wooden houses fall apart, they tells so much about our near past. About the fight for survival and the everyday struggle.

    Your photo is absolutely excellent.

    Great entry
