Well, not finding too many photos of myself when was young, thought I would take this theme in a little different direction.
I took this photo in the mountains of Colorado while climbing in the collegiate mountain range near Colorado Springs.
The mother ran off, and I was able to carefully, and slowly walk right up to this little guy while he lay motionless. I was able to take a couple quick pictures, then carefully backed off and let the mother come back.
Photo info: Nikon F70, Fuji color negative film, scanned and cropped in photoshop. I don’t remember which lens I was using at the time, most likely a 70-200. Exposure unrecorded.
Beautiful picture! What time of the year was this taken - do you remember? I keep waiting to see if the group who comes through our back orchard has any little ones with them, but nothing yet!
Means a lot Barbara. Could not believe he didn’t get up and run. I was not more than 5 feet away!!
Thank you very much Gewels. Ansel is one of my favorites.. One of my favorite quotes “Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click the shutter.” Thanks again!
Hey Kai! This was taken late spring, early summer a few years ago. I’m keeping an eye out too for any little ones. Still just a little early for around here. Did see a nice doe out back this morning though, and around 20 turkeys!!
Oh, and I remembered what lens I was using (how is THAT for random???) It was my 43-86mm Nikkor. What a DOG of a lens. Lucky I was ever able to take ANY clear photos with that thing.. Perfect portrait lens - permanent soft focus effect! LOL
Late last summer, we had a young buck who visited our yard a few times. We were never able to get closer than 30 feet though. And we don’t have a good zoom lens yet.

Well I guess we’ll never know how cute you were because you didn’t post a picture! The deer is adorable, though!

What an AMAZING photograph.
Ansel Adams said that the secret to a good photograph is knowing where to stand.
You were standing in a GREAT place
