Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired..

Just when I was starting to feel myself again, I have unfortunately relapsed..

Somehow I’ve managed to make it through, well, my whole life without ever having Strep Throat. And now, within 1 months time, I have somehow been so unlucky to have had it TWICE!! Gimme a break!

In case you’ve never had it, let me just fill you in here a minute. Some compare the pain associated with Strep Throat to swallowing razorblades. While this analogy is fairly good, it’s not quite accurate. It would be more closely compared to swallowing razorblades while drinking a gallon of gasoline and eating a bucket of salt. And thats just the pain in the throat.. On top of that are horrible body aches, chills, headaches, tiredness and a horribly high fever (mine was over 103 degrees).

While I generally have a fairly high tolerance for pain, swallowing water with which to take my medicine literally brings me to tears. This is just ridiculous.

The doctor thinks I must have re-infected myself somehow. I was careful to replace my toothbrush, wash sheets and pillowcases, etc.. Only think I can think of is water bottles.. I have a bad habit of continually reusing them and refilling them. When I’m done, I rinse it out, refill it and go.. Maybe this did me in, I’m just not sure..

So, I apologize for being gone, again, for the last few days.. I know I have a LOT of catching up to do, and I promise I’ll try to get caught up in the next few days. Just give me some more pain killers… :]

Stumble it!

I think you’ve hidden your TT again! Or perhaps I should stop with the wine?

Aaahhhhh!!!! Why does it do that?? Every time I post, then go back and edit (I found a typo), it changes it to private. Since I’m logged in as the admin, private posts appear normal, so I never notice that the change has occurred..

Thank you so much (you too Claire) for letting me know when I mess up!!

Yeouch. When I was a kid, I had chronic ear problems and got tonsillitis frequently. My ENT declared that if I got it more than twice a year, he would take out my tonsils. From that moment on, I got it *exactly* twice a year. Ergo, I still have my tonsils.

But I digress. I originally posted to advise that you try spoonfuls of honey. Just sort of let it trickle down your throat without much in the way of swallowing motions (dirty!). Oh, and while water may hurt, try hot liquids — tea with honey and lemon or tea with lemon and whiskey are good soothers.

FEEL BETTER RYAN!!! I can’t believe you got it again…but this might make you feel better. It could be worse, have you ever had Mono?? It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Not only does your throat hurt, it literally swells up and you can’t swallow at all. AND your liver gets swolen as well…rough times.

Seriously though, take care of yourself and take care of that body!! (that wasn’t meant the way I made it sound…oops)

Hang in there. I had strep last year and I know its no picnic. I much rather be fighting the run of the mill crud of a cold that I have now, then strep. I feel for ya! Get plenty of rest and throw out all your bottles. You surely have reinfected yourself somehow. Toss your chapsticks, too! I always make that mistake when I am ill.

Hey Ryan - feeling any better these days?

Strep is going through the school here too so I sure hope it doesn’t make it to our house!

    Hope you’re improving!
