So I guess I’m curious.. What blog reader do you use, and why?
I see a lot of the subscribers to the blog here are using the “Live Bookmarks” feature built into the Mozilla Firefox browser. Many others appear to be using their personalized Google homepage.
So I guess I’m curious.. What blog reader do you use, and why?
Also, thank you to everyone who subscribes to my RSS feeds and stops by to comment here. I am very grateful.
Stumble it!

I just started using google reader because it’s free, and it works. But I used to use Feeddemon on windows, and netnewswire on mac.
I actually own netnewswire, but lately, i’ve found that google reader does a better job. But I’ve been discovering netnewswire does the same things too as of late, I just didn’t realize it so I might switch back.

Hey Yoshi!!
I’ve been using FeedDemon. Seems to do a good job. I’ll have to give Google Reader a try since I have not yet tried it out..

What is a blog reader? I have favorites saved and I randomly (a little too much) check them throughout the day.

Hey Margaret. I blog reader (often referred to as an aggregator) makes it easy to keep all the blogs you read in one neat spot. Instead of manually going to each web page to see if there are any updates for each and every blog you read, the blog reader will generally keep a list of whatever blogs you read (usually on the left) and will automatically notify you of there is a new post. This way you aren’t going around aimlessly from blog to blog to see if anything new has been posted.

As you can see form that image, it makes managing many blogs (or even just a few), much easier. Hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask more questions if I was unclear.

I use Google Reader. These are the reasons:
1. It has unlimited feeds. Many readers top out at 200 for an individual feed, some even less. You won’t get that hassle with this one.
2. I like the Star feature - if I’m in a hurry I can just glance down the collapsed list and star every item I want to read later.
3. I like the “share this” feature which puts all your shared items on to a separate page. You can then give the address to friends and acquaintances, and they can see what you are reading. Or, what about putting the link on your blog, and then all your visitors can have a look at what you have enjoyed. The shared page also has it’s own RSS feed.
4. If you hit the “Mark all as read” button and then wish you hadn’t, all is not lost. You can click on the link again and “View all items”. It goes back to, like, infinity…or something.
These are but four reasons. There are others, but these will do. I am loving Google Reader.
I’m also sounding like an automaton, for some reason.

:)
Well then, that settles it. I will have to get acquainted with it tonight..
I would assume then that since it is Google (I am assuming you can put it on your personalized google home page), that you can access your reader from any computer after logging in to your personalized home??

Cool. I will familiarize myself with it pronto!
Thank you for pointing out the benefits!

I’m using bloglines, but wow, Google Reader looks very cool. (yet another new thing to figure out. sigh.)

I use Google Reader, and echo Rory’s reasons.

I use google as well…I like being able to easily set up a widget that shows my ’shared’ entries.
