Hi Local Girl - We will never really know exactly what was going on.. A friend and I were on a walk along a trail that circled this frozen lake. We came to a clearing and saw this woman (yes, is actually a lady) slowly releasing these heart-shaped balloons one at a time, until they were gone. It was very very eerie.. I felt even from watching from a far distance that I was intruding on something very personal.. I took a few photos then quickly left.
Lost love? Perhaps..
A child that drowned in the lake?? I just don’t know..
Part of photography is simply being at the right place at the right time..
There is a lot of symbolism in that picture, even without knowing the story. The frozen lake adds to the feel and I love the way you have only the balloons colored. Great shot!
I love this picture…I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. I think the story it is telling depends on who is looking at it. I haven’t commented in a while, I’ve been a lazy blogger I have to admit. You know when you just kind of get in a rut? I’m pulling myself out slowly but surely. I think it’s the gloominess of the time of year…
Oh how sad, even more so with your little explanation, but Katie is right it could mean so many things.
I have decided that instead of a message in a bottle, she is sending love balloons and she will meet up with who ever finds one and then they get married!
I love a happy ending!
Great shot again! Darn it! do you take the camera everywhere?

That’s a beauty, Ryan. Liking very much the pale red standing out against the red. Actually, there is much about this picture to like…

Wait a minute! You entered twice! Wily, wily, wily.
Are you up to something with Rose and her “more” button?

That’s actually a pretty sad photo. Did he lose the love of his life?

Oh it seems so sad, like he is letting go of a love that he really doesn’t want to let go of. Beautiful!!

Very sad looking, I had to look twice to see what the balloons were.

I completely understand Katie. Good to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by!
As what you mentioned, yes, it certainly could mean a lot of things, depending on who is looking at the photo.
Thanks again!

That photo is beautiful but also sad. I really think you’ve captured the emotion of the subject in a really senstive way.
Wordless is the right word
