Alright, so, sorry I am so late to get this up today everyone!

I know this one is a bit different for me, but thought it was fitting since we will shortly be saying goodbye to winter..

Happy Wordless Wednesday to everyone! Thank you for visiting.

    Ryan

Was more than worth the wait.
Now i have seen deer before and they don’t quite look like that, did you take this?
God i am so bloody funny!:)

  • Ryan // Mar 14, 2007 at 12:42 pm

Always going out of your way to be a bloody wanker!

Should have known you would do that! lol

    Yes, I TOOK THIS PHOTOGRAPH.

Thats lovely, and looks very cold. I wonder what the deer is thinking :-)

Claire! Put your big spoon away! ;-)

Beautiful! Amazing how you managed to capture the one deer looking straight at you. Gorgeous! :)

  • Morgen // Mar 14, 2007 at 1:21 pm

clearly our Michigan deer inspire you.
I saw the largest herd of deer the other evening, driving home as the snow was (finally) melting.
There must have been thirty to forty deer in a stubbly cornfield. I pulled over to take a picture, but it was too foggy and dark already (right before daylight savings, of course!).
Wildlife photography is very difficult, in my humble amateur opinion, and this is an amazing portrait.

    An absolutely stunning photograph!

    Kinda looks like somebody’s lost.

    Great shot.
    Telephoto??

One always is the loneliest number. Isnt it Ryan.

Autofocused - Yes, was a tad cold!! :]

Dragonheart - Thank you very much. While taking the photos, and many before this shot, the one deer was quite intrigued and kept walking closer and closer to me trying to figure me out. Right as soon as I took this photo, she bolted away!

Hi Morgen! Yes, I find myself inspired by pretty much everything outdoors! Deer included.

    Margaret - Thanks so much!

Star - This shot was taken with a 200mm f2.8 lens I believe at around f4 or so to keep the depth of field relatively shallow, but to still allow the blurred outline of the deer in the background to show.

Look at her face! She’s darling!

We have 5 or so whitetail that travel through the back daily - I just love watching them.

Waiting for a visit and curious attention like this, is worth waiting for more than one day. Splendid result and excellent WW contribution:)

  • Brian // Mar 14, 2007 at 4:51 pm

Great picture Ryan. I just love how you were able to entice the deer closer. :)

  • Rory // Mar 14, 2007 at 5:14 pm

I love the contrast between the deer in focus and the group out-of-focus but clearly interested in what their fellow is doing.

    Another cool classic, Ryan.

    thats a silent picture..its great!

  • yoshi // Mar 14, 2007 at 5:37 pm

Ah 200mm lens. Nice shot. I like it when animals get curious. Then they hear you taking their pictures and suddenly they’re camerashy. :)

  • helena // Mar 14, 2007 at 8:08 pm

Great Shot,,it’s good to see the deer looking so healthy.

  • Linda // Mar 14, 2007 at 8:46 pm

And I will be quite happy to say good-bye to winter - though pictures like this make the cold and the snow worthwhile! Sort of!

  • Vlado&Toni // Mar 15, 2007 at 2:20 pm

Love your entry, it was worth the wait. I like the way you captured that shot and catching that look on the deer’s face. I once met one on the road (while driving - good thing we hit the breaks right on time) and it just gave us this look before leaving us all in shock!
P.S. Told you I’d be back last week so looking forward to more of your entries.

  • Gina // Mar 15, 2007 at 3:02 pm

Beautiful. We have so many go through our property. I love sitting in my front window watching them.

  • Donna // Mar 15, 2007 at 4:37 pm

    That is some excellent photography.
